Plenty of general dentists offer braces and Invisalign, so why should you visit a specialist like an orthodontist? A board-certified orthodontist like Dr. Valant has vastly more experience and training when it comes to straightening the teeth and bite, which means he’s not only able to offer more treatment options, but fully tailor those options to each individual patient. Think of it this way: if you need heart surgery, would you go to your family practice physician, or to a heart surgeon? Dr. Valant’s focused expertise and skill not only offer our patient’s peace of mind, but it ensures their results and experience are top-quality.
In order to become an orthodontist, Dr. Valant first had to graduate from dental school just like a general dentist, but then he completed an additional residency at Texas A&M/Baylor College of Dentistry where he solely focused on orthodontics.
Dr. Valant is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, a designation shared by only the top 25% of US orthodontists. Dr. Valant had to take numerous training courses on top of his formal education, complete a rigorous written exam, and presented numerous successful case studies. Basically, he went above and beyond to not only gain knowledge, but demonstrate excellence in his practice of orthodontics.
Despite a 30+ year career and innumerable hours of training, Dr. Valant is still striving to get better to this day. That’s why he constantly does research and completes continuing education when he isn’t in our Cedar Hill office. In particular, he works hard to stay up-to-date on the latest techniques and technologies to provide world-class care to his patients.
For over 20 years, Dr. Valant has been a highly-respected professor at the Texas A&M Baylor College of Dentistry, where he lectures and shares his knowledge with future orthodontists every Monday. His teaching not only helps countless residents but also enables him to sharpen his own skills. The best way to know if you really understand something is to teach it to someone else, and Dr. Valant has done this on a weekly basis for decades.
